I AM WRITING A BOOK ABOUT HEALING - AND YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

Until we went into lockdown last year I had held workshops all over the world for over 40 years, encouraging people to discover their own healing potential. Like many people, during this time I’ve spent much time thinking about the future and what I’d really like to do.

I have no plans at present to hold any further workshops not least because there are so many other ways of interacting with audiences. Although I’ve written eight books, not one has been on the subject of “how to heal” and it’s time to redress that!

I’ve got decades of experience on which to draw, plenty of exercises, and a wealth of personal insight. It will be a practical book underpinned by the great volume of scientific research relating to the subject.

As many of you know, I’ve always approached healing from a very down-to-earth perspective: it doesn’t need to revolve around totems as it fundamentally grows from a place of compassion, empathy, listening, heart and love.

One of my favourite times during a workshop was throwing it open to questions and answers towards the end of the day. I never knew what to expect - and didn’t necessarily have all the answers. But it often encouraged me to contemplate areas of healing in ways that I might otherwise not have done.

As I begin work on this new project it would be wonderful to do what I used to do in those workshops - but this time online.

If you’ve got a question about healing, if there’s something you’d like to learn more about, or maybe a certain aspect doesn’t make much sense, please use the comment section beneath this post. We have also set up a dedicated page on my website for the same purpose.

I won’t be answering your questions at the moment but will acknowledge each one with a “like”.

I’m really excited to start writing so it’s over to you!

Hi Matthew, this is a fantastic idea to gather notes in readiness for your next book. I have been wondering about the issue of spiritual laws and karma when it comes to healing (after reading a great book by Diana Cooper - A Little Light on Spiritual Laws). Prior to healing, do you tune into the higher self / spirit guides of the patient to ask permission before starting the healing process? As an empath, I have been advised to try and avoid unconsciously taking on the 'negative' energy from others as, for some, their pain is part of their individual journey chosen pre-incarnation. I have been told that I can 'walk along beside them' but not to try and take their pain away. This would be one of the first things I would consider before healing somebody. How do you feel about this? Thanks, Katie

Hello Matthew, I became a Reiki Master in 2004, I know we all have natural healing abilities of different degrees, so does chanelling Reiki add to any natural healing abilities I may have ?

Two points really. Firstly as a Rogerian counsellor (person centred) I have experienced at least two ocassions where healing has taken place without hands on approach. It happened through creating safe space, deep connection, non judgement and compassion. In a sense, being a witness for the person, a mirror. I felt the energy shift in the room, I felt the energy such as Ive felt when you enter a room. It was tangible and I saw the release happen in the person I was with, sometimes physically - shaking and crying. This might tie in with the work of Dr Gabor Mate who you are probably familiar with but if not, is a giant in the field of compassionate medicine and theories around healing, addiction and trauma. Your work ties in very much with his, you come at in in a different way but from the same place
